On 7β8 October 2026, Prague, Czech Republic, will host the 25th International Water Mist Conference (IWMC 2026) β the leading international forum dedicated to water mist fire suppression technologies. The event is organised by the International Water Mist Association (IWMA) and will take place at the Grand Hotel International.
The conference traditionally brings together manufacturers, system designers, engineers, research organisations, certification bodies, fire protection professionals and end users from around the world. It provides a unique platform for presenting the latest technological developments, exchanging practical experience and discussing emerging trends in water mist fire protection systems.
Focus on Education and Industry Development
According to IWMA President Max Lakkonen, the association's main theme for 2026 is advancing professional knowledge within the fire protection industry. Reflecting this focus, this year's conference programme introduces a new feature β a dedicated technical workshop that will complement the traditional presentations and technical discussions.
Participants will also benefit from a comprehensive programme of lectures and expert panel sessions covering both established applications of water mist technology and emerging solutions addressing today's fire safety challenges.
EN 14972, Innovation and Leading Manufacturers
Among the conference highlights will be a panel discussion on Annex A of the European Standard EN 14972, the presentation of the prestigious Ragnar Wighus Award, and a dedicated exhibition where leading companies from the sector will showcase their latest products, technologies and engineering solutions.
Particular attention will be given to EN 14972, the principal European standard governing water mist fire suppression systems. Industry experts are expected to discuss practical aspects of its implementation, international experience gained through its application, and the future development of the regulatory framework.
Building on the Success of the 2025 Conference
Last year's conference attracted nearly 170 delegates from 25 countries, highlighting the growing interest in water mist fire suppression technology and its expanding use across industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, tunnels, car parks, data centres, energy installations and public buildings.
According to IWMA President Max Lakkonen, the strong participation of delegates and sponsors reflects the rapid development of the sector and the increasing confidence in water mist technology as a highly effective and sustainable fire protection solution.
The conference programme has already been published, and registration is now open. Further information, the conference programme and registration details are available at www.iwma.net/iwmc.
