The nozzles model K6, model LAK-7 and model BM1 are designed for effective and reliable protection against fire risks of a category HH (High Hazard) according to the standards in the fire protection industry.
The K6, LAK-7 and BM1 nozzles are part of the low pressure water mist system FIREKILL™ and are specially designed for local applications and total flooding protection of machinery spaces, wood/biomass processing plants, transformers and other equipment in industrial premises.
The K6, LAK-7 and BM1 nozzles protect against fire risks of class A and class B fires in open and closed premises. These categories cover applications for processing or storage of flammable liquids, raw materials, fossil fuels with high risk of rapid fire growth, high combustion intensity and high heat release.
Approvals and typical applications
The nozzles have been successfully tested in accordance with CEN EN 14972, FM 5560 and IMO 913 standards by accredited laboratories and are approved by third party organizations such as FM Approvals and DNV/GL
The LAK-7 nozzle has been successfully tested and approved in accordance with the FM 5560:2019 standard, appendix I, including fire test protocols for water mist systems for local fire protection of machines and equipment in industrial areas where flammable liquids are a main risk and no total flooding protection is installed. These are typically machines with fuel/oil pans underneath, oil pumps and filters, hydraulic pipelines with hot oil under pressure, production lines, lubrication skids, fuel filters, oil pumps, oil tanks, gear boxes, drive shafts etc.
The К6 nozzle has been successfully tested and approved in accordance with the FM 5560 standard, appendix Е and appendix F, including fire test protocols for water mist systems for total flooding protection of industrial areas with size 320 m3, 800 m3 and 4610 m3 at a height of the premises 5 m, 8 m and 12 m respectively.
The K6 nozzle is design to successfully protect machinery spaces, special hazard machinery spaces, rooms with mechanical and electrical equipment such as internal combustion engines, generators, transformers, lubrication skids, fuel filters, oil pumps, oil tanks, gear boxes, drive shafts, diesel generators, turbines and other similar equipment using liquid hydrocarbon fuel and lubricants with volatility less than or equal to heptane.
The K6 nozzle has been tested to an extensive list of different protocols. To prove its use as a local application system it has been successfully tested in accordance with DFL test method 170325-1275-1 for loading stations such as shredder top parts, local protection of volumes below machines such as shredder bottom parts, local protection of high-risk areas on parts of a machine or a whole machine where the main risk is class A or class B fuels, local protection of surrounding risks found next to mechanical machinery.
The BM1 nozzle are FM approved as it has been successfully tested to the FM5560 standard, appendix C in 260 m3 room (5m ceiling height) for the same fire hazards as K6 in total flooding system. BM1 nozzles can protect small machinery being supplied from SAS cylinder system without any pump and external water supply. In connection with N-pipes – prefabricated pipes with threated connections for the nozzles, BM1 has been successfully tested and approved in accordance with the EN 14972-1 standard, annex A including fire test protocols for the local protection of conveyors, transformers, polystyrene processing. It is also tested and applicable for total flooding systems in big premises such as biomass storage or wood processing plants.
